Our newest adventure to come...

Well, actually, it's already been quite the adventure...but yes, we're having a baby! I'm 16 weeks along and have definitely enjoyed my fair share of the lovely "morning sickness." But we won't talk about that, because I'm done with it! Whether it's done with me or not, I've had enough :) We are both soooo excited and can't wait to have "Jr" with us. Shanam's positive it's a boy, but no, we're not naming "him" Shanam Jr. :) "He's" due November 1 and we are planning on doing a home birth with a midwife. We'll keep you updated on whether Shanam is right or not :)

Yay! I'm so excited for you:) Bevan and I had a very strong feeling that Carson was a boy before we went in for our 20 week ultrasound and we were right! So you never know - Shanam could be right;) And I think that it is awesome that you are planning a home birth. I'm thinking of going with a midwife next time around.

Congrats! Jeff has been right both times so far on what we were having, and I never even have a clue. :) Either way, boy or girl, you are going to do great. :)

I have a lot of friends that like natural births and some that have their babies at home too. Anyhow, one of them does a hypnotizing thing on herself and she said it made a big difference in dealing with the pain. I let you know just in case you want to check it out.

Good luck with everything. Being pregnant, especially first time, is magical even with the sickness.

Congrats on being prego!! That's so excting. I loved your home birth video. I had midwives for Charlotte's birth at a birthing center. I LOVED my midwives. My sister-in-law also did a home birth and loved it. Good luck with the pregnancy.

Congrats! I always wanted a home birth and a natural birth, but I was talked out of it and I am really glad I was talked out of it because my daughter ended up having unforeseen complications during birth. She aspirated mechonium and they didn't know that there was even mechonium in the fluid until she was born because when they broke my water everything was clear. So she had what they call terminal mechonium, which means her head was pressed so hard again my cervix that very little fluid came out and none of it had the mechonium in it. So anyone, she aspirated the mechonium and was ok for the first little while after her birth but about 2 hours after she was born she went downhill and ended up being on a ventilator and everything, she was in the NICU for 8 days and on a ventilator for 3 of those days and on some sort of oxygen for 6 days of her stay there. It was nuts! Just make sure that they have good protocol to deal with things like that and that you are comfortable with everything, because really, anything can happen. I had the perfect pregnancy (besides being sick) and the perfect labor (good heart tracings, activity and everything they look for to see if a baby is distressed) and still had a horrible complication.
I am not trying to convince you not to do it, because I think would be awesome to do it, but I just want you to be aware that things can happen and to have back up plans.

Yay for home births!!! I've had 2 home births, and they are wonderful! Hard, but absolutely worth it!

If you have any questions, let me know.
